“Kosovo’s Lionel Messi” wants to stay at Basel, as Genk wants him back and clubs in France, England, Germany and Italy target him too

Prishtina/Brussels, 09 June 2020, dtt-net.com – The 21-year left foot forward/midfielder of the Kosovan national team, Edon Zhegrova, nicknamed in Swiss and his home country as ‘Kosovo’s Lionel Messi’, is attracting the interest of several clubs in France, England, Germany and Italy as well, but dtt-net.com agency learns that the starlet is interested in staying with Swiss’s FC Basel and not return to Belgium’s Genk.

French media have reported earlier this month that Olympique Lyon, Olympique Marseille and FC Nantes have an eye on the former FC Standard and FC St. Trond’s player who was on loan to Basel 1893 from Genk for 2019/2020 season.

But dtt-net.com learns that Zhegrova is interested to stay in Swiss Super League with FC Basel, although under the contract with Genk he should return to Belgium’s Jupiler League.

Zhegrova moved from Genk in winter 2019 on a one-year and half loan to Basel. It’s up to the two clubs now to find a compromise about Zhegrova’s future, but as French clubs are increasing their interests on acquiring his services, the negotiations between all sides seem to get well complicated.

And it could likely happen that the wish of the player to continue with Basel to be the dominating criteria in the negotiations between the club’s decision-makers in Belgium and Swiss, but also in France.

FC Basel 1893 is currently at third place in Swiss Super League, 5 points behind the leader and the second of the table, FC St.Gallen 1879 and BSC Young Boys, respectively, who have both 45 points. KRC Genk is 7th in Belgium Jupiler Pro League 26 points behind the leader of the table Club Brugge.

With 14 appearances at FC Basel, Zhegrova scored 2 goals and made 3 assists. He scored twice in 17 appearances for Kosovo’s national team.
