Serbia and Montenegro leaders at the war of words over religion law and plans for restoring Montenegrin Orthodox Church (MPC)

Podgorica/Belgrade, 20 May 2020, dtt-net.com – Leaders of Serbia are expressing anger over the last year religion law in Montenegro and plans by Podgorica to restore the old Montenegrin Orthodox Church (MPC), and separate it from Belgrade-backed Serb Orthodox Church (SPC), which Montenegrins say was stripped away by Serbia in 1919, a year after Montenegro forcibly lost its independence to become part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Slovenes and Croats and only become independent again in 2006 when it split from the state union it formed with Serbia from what had remained after the break-up of former Yugoslavia in the '90s.
