Albania earthquake death toll rises to 20


Tirana, 26 November 2019, dtt-net.com – Death toll from today’s powerful earthquake in Albania has increased to 20, local authorities reported at 18:00 CET while search and rescue operations continue in the coastal town of Durrës.

About 50 people have been pulled alive from rubble and more than 600 have been offered medical assistance, according to the ministry of healthcare, after the 6.3 Richter magnitude quake with the epicenter 10 km from the town and 31 from the capital Tirana which hit at 03:55 (CET).

Several neighboring countries have offered or have already sent their rescue teams helping Albanian emergency teams, firefighters and police.

The EU is also mobilizing search and rescue teams to be deployed to Albania.
